La Roche-Posay CC Cream

by ,

I’ve been on a 20-year quest for perfect skin so I’m always excited when new products come on the market promising me just that (a marketer’s dream, eh?).

The latest trend of all-in-ones is the CC cream. Hot on the heels of the the BB cream, CC creams promise colour correction plus all the benefits of its BB and tinted moisturiser predessors (SPF, primer, foundation, moisturiser and anti-age cream) in one tube.

As a long-time fan of tinted moisturisers, I’ve been skeptical of these new kids on the block. I love the sheer look of a tinted moisturiser and wasn’t sure if I was ready for something heavier. Afterall, that’s what foundation is for, right?

But when La Roche-Posay launched its own CC cream in February, I was intrigued. I love the French pharmacy skincare line, so am always willing to try its latest products. The Rosaliac CC cream is particularly appropriate for Irish skin that is prone to flushing as it promises to cover rosacea with light to medium coverage.

First impressions were positive. The cream is rich, blends easily and really does cover redness. After a short illness and course of antibiotics, I had an unslightly rash on my neck that was disguised without the need for additional concealer.

I tend to wear the CC cream on days I’m in a hurry and don’t have time for a full face of make-up. I found it gave me good coverage without shine and without too much effort in application. However, I wouldn’t wear a CC cream under my usual foundation, tending towards something sheerer (tinted moisturiser) or a primer instead.

But if you’re time poor (who isn’t these days?), suffer from the redness of hormonal breakouts or constant redness, than a CC cream is for you.
