La Roche-Posay Micellar Solution

La Roche-Posay Micellor

TBI loves anything French.  A product just has to be waved in the direction of France and I’m all over it. As I’ve struggled with my skin since my early twenties, I’m always on the lookout for the Holy Grail of skincare, and La Roche-Posay comes pretty darn close.

On a recent trip to France, I stocked up on this French pharmacy favourite for literally half the price it is here. Among my beauty haul was the Micellar Physiological Solution.

Micellar waters are the latest trend in cleansing. I’ve been studiously ignoring them as quite frankly they look just like bottles of toner.

So I’m not sure whether it was those impossibly chic Parisian ladies with their luminous skin or the old-school French pharmacies, but I was unable to resist buying the entire La Roche-Posay display.

The idea behind micellar waters is they are an all-in-one make-up remover and toner. Micellar solutions act like a purifying magnet on the skin’s surface, drawing out excess oil and impurities. Having been raised with the mantra ‘Cleanse, Tone And Moisturise’, it feels wrong to use just one product. But I have to say, I’m digging these micellar waters. Just a couple of thoroughly soaked cotton pads removes every last trace of make-up and my skin feels satisfyingly cleansed – something I never had with cleansing milks.

The La Roche-Posay solution is gentle, effective and my skin never feels tight after use. I literally love it and can’t believe I ever lived without it. It will take a serious cleanser to get me to revert to my old ways. In the meantime, I’ve bottles of perfectly excellent cleansers and toners languishing forlornly at the back of my bathroom cabinet, unused and no longer loved. As they say in Paris, c’est la vie.
