I’m a huge fan of make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury so I was beyond excited when some of her products landed at Dublin’s Brown Thomas ahead of the full collection launch this September.
I picked up a tube of the legendary Wonder Glow primer and for the past week have been smoothing this wondrous illuminator under and over make-up. The packaging is sublime – luxurious, tactile and with rose-gold lettering and cap. Before you have even applied it, it feels expensive (it is).
Tilbury herself describes Wonder Glow as ‘powered by a Fluorescent Core Light Diffuser’ which apparently ‘steals UV light from its surroundings and re-emits it as skin luminosity’. Eh, say what now? Well whatever this so-called light diffuser stuff is, it’s a dream to apply.
Unlike cheaper high street illuminators such as my now-neglected No7, this won’t sit on your skin or mess up any existing foundation you have applied. I found it melted into my skin and gave me a subtle glow all day.
I wore this a number of ways over the past week – as a primer before my CC cream (Bourjois in Light Beige), mixed with tinted moisturiser (Laura Mercier Oil-Free in Beige), and as a highlighter on cheeks over my foundation (Laura Mercier Silk Foundation). It all worked beautifully. If your skin is good enough, it looks great worn alone. For those of us on the wrong side of 30, a touch of concealer will get you out the door in a flash.
I should add that Wonder Glow smells divine with floral accents of rose hip and camellia oil. I really loved this stuff and can’t wait for the extended Charlotte Tilbury line to hit Irish shelves. I sense a new, expensive skincare habit forming…
