In love with rose

by ,

If you didn’t get any roses this weekend (boo hiss!), then I’ve got a beautiful rose-inspired eyeshadow palette to show you today. I adore anything rose-related and as it’s Valentine’s weekend, I thought I’d keep up the romance with this beaut from Catrice.

As you can see from the pictures, the palette is a gorgeous collection of soft nudes, pinks and browns in both matte and shimmer finishes. I was super excited to try it out after I received this – it’s probably one of the prettiest Catrice products I’ve seen in a while.

Before I applied the shadows, I started with Catrice’s Prime And Fine Eyeshadow Base in Nude which has a handy applicator stick. I usually find these types of primer a right faff and instead rely on a bit of foundation to hold my eyeshadow in place. If, however, you have oily eyelids and find your mascara working its way up into your brows by mid-afternoon, then a primer is a good option. The Catrice one is priced at a very reasonable €3.99, so it won’t break the bank.

The palette itself is very wearable and I’d imagine would suit most girls. In the gallery above, I’m wearing a soft version of the palette – perfect for an easy daytime look. I swept the second pale pink all over the eye before lining the socket with the matte brown. To add a little depth, I used the darkest shade on the outer corners of my eye and along the bottom lashes. In terms of colour payoff, you do have to really work the shadows as they are not as pigmented as high-end brands. The shadows are also quite powdery so have some translucent powder at the ready to sweep away any excess. Overall, I found the palette very wearable and not a bad little find at €5.49. Both products are available in stores now.
