Nineties spring fashion

by ,

I’ve been trying to ignore the subtle hints – Nirvana on the airwaves, a Clinton in the White House, kids rocking flannel  - but the Nineties are back. They say if you’re old enough to remember the fashion the first time around, you really shouldn’t be wearing it but feck that! I’m loving the new Nineties-inspired fashion in the stores. Here’s TBI’s favourite new season picks.

Striped Jersey Top
I love a striped Breton top. A classic wardrobe staple, this beaut is Alexander Wang. On the high street, try Zara for this gorgeous relaxed basic tee.

Boyfriend Jeans
These La Garcon jeans come ready distressed for the lived-in look. Zara once again has this jeans basic covered – rips included in the price.

Adidas Original Trainers
These are back on my want list. Worn with skinnies, rolled-up boyfriend jeans or a cute T-shirt dress, the classic Adidas Superstar II trainer is a spring/summer essential.

Leather Backpack
No Nineties look would be complete without a leather backpack, ripe for pickpockets. This Marni tote has gorgeous gold hardware for a chic yet casual look. Try Forever 21 for a similar bag at a fraction of the price.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers
Skip the John Lennon-inspired sunglasses of the Nineties and opt instead for Ray-Ban’s timeless Wayfarers. This gorgeous pair has a tortoiseshell frame and green lenses for a cool, stylish look. Schwing!
