When I think of Italy I think of ‘la dolce vita’ – those little sweet things that make Italian life so good. A sun-drenched Sorrento terrace, a little amaretto aperitif, a boat down the Italian Riveria, a simple bowl of pasta drizzled with olive oil, a cool glass of Pinot Grigio. Bliss!
It’s been a few years since I was in Italy now, my favourite place being the island of Sicily. So in lieu of the real thing, I’ve been liberally spritzing myself with The Body Shop’s new Italian Summer Fig Eau De Toilette which is part of its new Voyage Collection. Italian Summer Fig is literally Italy in a bottle and I’m obsessed!
I had the pleasure of meeting The Body Shop perfumer, Constance Georges-Picot, behind this delicate scent who tried to capture the sun-drenched Italian coast. Constance broke down the fragrance into its individual scents in her interpretation of Italy. Combining the aroma of figs, Constance added crisp top notes of green grape leaf, a floral heart of Tuscan rose, and base notes of amber and oakwood.
One thing I will say is it’s very obviously figgy. So if figs ain’t your bag, this might not be for you. Me? I love it. Now all I need is that elusive Irish summer sunshine and a glass of vino and I’m happy out.
Have you tried any of The Body Shop’s Voyage collection? What scents are you loving this summer?
*Italian Summer Fig is available in stores from July, priced €29.95
