My name’s Becca and I’m addicted to nail polish. There. I said it. I haven’t actually seen my bare nails in 20 years. Instead I have a serious predilection for buying polish and an expensive addiction to salon-gel manicures.
Enter Sally Hansen with its new at-home gel polish range. I love the look of a salon manicure but it’s a spendy habit, not to mention harsh on your nails. With this in mind, I recently popped in to the launch of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel autumn/winter collection and took home a bottle of its ruby red shade Red Eye and top coat to try.
The brand promises up to 14 days wear with its two-step process (colour and top coat) that hardens in daylight. Admittedly I was pretty sceptical at the claims. As you can see from the gallery, Red Eye is a gorgeous pop of colour and I love it. The brush is wide and generous and it applies evenly. I found it dried quickly and the top coat gives nails a gorgeous shine.
But – and there is always a but – I didn’t get 14 days of chip-free wear and instead needed to touch up nails within a few days. As a home polish, it’s a decent option for €9.99 (per bottle) but it won’t replace my love affair with salon manicures. There goes the bank balance…
Have you tried any of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes?
