Natural skincare picks

by ,

Back in my dim and distant acne-filled twenties, I was a big fan of all-natural skincare. And when I say “fan” I mean completely obsessed, of course. I used Dr Hauschka religiously and along with eliminating dairy from my diet, I still credit it with helping to clear up my skin.

Now that I’m in my thirties, I can mix up my skincare with greater ease and rely on cosmeceutical ranges (Image, Neostrata and Environ being my faves) for anti-ageing along with organic products to pamper my skin.

So today, I thought I’d share with you a few of my all-natural, hero products.

Yon-Ka Age Defense Cream
This. Cream. Is. Exceptional. There I said it. I’ve been meaning to talk about it for ages but life and lipstick reviews kept getting in the way! Regular readers will know I’m a long-time fan of Yon-ka and had the privilege of visiting its French laboratories in October last year, which just further fuelled my passion for the family-run brand.

The Age Defense Cream is an intense treatment for dry or sensitive skin. Formulated with essential fatty acids (omegas 3, 6, and 9), I used this as a night-time treatment all winter.

This cream is literally the stuff of miracles and it leaves my skin incredibly plumped up and baby soft by morning. I’m on my second tube and have to fight Mr TBI off it. If you have dry skin or are looking for a rich treatment, this cream is for you. I know I will repurchase this endlessly.

Dr Hauschka’s Regenerating Skin Care Kit
Dr Hauschka will always be my first love when it comes to natural skincare. I still use its hero clay mask on a regular basis (review here). I was recently sent the Regenerating Kit to try. Specially formulated for mature skin, the kit features sample sizes of the eye cream, serum, day cream, body cream and neck cream.

The standout product for me was the Regenerating Serum. Formulated with quince seed, kalanchoe, red clover and clover blossom honey, I found the serum lightweight and incredibly soothing. I would have loved more than the sample size so this one goes on the repurchase list.

Emma Hardie’s Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm
For the ultimate treat, I love Emma Hardie’s Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm. I met Emma on her most recent trip to Dublin and heard first hand her incredible journey from illness to the natural skincare guru she is today (read the interview here).

One of my favourites from her range is the cult classic Moringa Cleansing Balm. The luxurious botanical balm is formulated with moringa seeds and uplifting orange neroli and rose extracts. It can be used as a cleanser, over-night mask or universal rescue balm. I personally love this as a night mask – it’s heaven in a pot!

Organic Surge Replenishing Facial Oil
Finally, the newest addition to my skincare routine is this beautiful facial oil from Organic Surge. The Scottish range launched in Ireland last month and I predict us Irish will go nuts for it.

The purse-friendly products are formulated with certified organic essential oils. The Replenishing Facial Oil uses a blend of argan and yarrow oil and can be used alone or added to your regular moisturiser for an added hydration boost. I like to massage a couple of drops into my skin at night before applying my night cream. Lovely jubbly.
