The Beauty Routine: SoSueMe’s Suzanne Jackson

by ,

Blogger and SOSU make-up entrepreneur Suzanne Jackson, 32, is one of Ireland’s most in-demand stars. Here Suzanne reveals her daily beauty, make-up and health routine.

There’s no typical day for me as every day is always so different. Literally no two days are the same when you’re in my industry. The only two staple features of my day-to-day life would be blogging and social media. I do these regardless of where I am.

Because I’m at a night owl and work a lot at night, I get up at around 8-8.30am. Some days, I would have a lot of meetings around the development of SOSU products, other days I might be in the UK on a press trip, and then there are days where I am doing accounts or administration. Each evening, Dylan [fiance] and I walk our dogs and then go for a bite to eat.

At the moment, I am in the process of helping my skin look the best it can for my wedding next August so I’m on a strict skincare schedule and mainly using the Environ product range. One of these products would be the Environ cleanser.

I don’t really use a toner but if I have to use one, I would use Environ as well. Although I’m disciplined with my Environ skincare regime, I do also love to use the Kinvara Skincare Rosehip Serum and the Trilogy Rosehip Serum. Both serums are amazing products and rosehip has a wonderful effect on the skin.

I use the Environ eye cream. It is one of the best on the market. If I don’t use that, I use the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules.

I love the Environ Two way Optimiser – a peptide protein-based moisturiser, and then I use a pure vitamin E cream. I love it because it is SO hydrating and since I started using the full range, my skin has noticeably changed. It has become more glowy and hydrated.

Finally, if I’m going on holiday, I always bring Soltan SPF or the Once SPF range from Boots. I also love the Declare SPF.

I always have a Dr Paw Paw lip balm in my handbag. Of this range, I tend to use either the clear gel or the peachy colour. The peachy one is lovely for during day when you want touch of colour on your lips. I also always carry a hand sanitiser (at the moment I’m using the Zoella Hand Sanitiser) and you will always find hand cream in my bag, usually the L’Occitane hand cream or the Soap & Glory Hand Food.

I really like the new Body Shop face mask for glowy skin. I would only use a face mask once or twice a month.

I probably couldn’t go without my Environ Peptide Serum – it’s a moisturiser but it’s called a serum. It’s so hydrating and feels so lovely on the skin.

And I would love to try the Creme de la Mer range. The reason I haven’t tried it is because the prices are so outrageous!

I love YSL Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow, MAC Strobe Cream or the Radiance Balm All Bright from Boots which is an amazing dupe for the Strobe Cream. I featured it on SoSueMe.

My favourite foundations include the Makeup Forever Foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, the Stila foundation, and sometimes I will use shade four from my Complete Contour Palette as my foundation.

For lipstick, I love Kate Moss Rimmel (especially shade 145 which is a beautiful nude, and shade 107 which is a warm berry red), Tom Ford, MAC and Sexy Mother Pucker from Soap & Glory. For blusher, I usually use one from MAC or the Hot Mama blusher from TheBalm.

At the moment, however, I have been using the shade Peach Smoothie from my new highlighter kit which is set to launch on November 21. For mascara, I love Volume Million Lashes from L’Oreal, Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara (or the W7 dupe for the Benefit mascara which I featured on my site). For added glam, I also wear my SOSU lashes. I have yet to find a mascara that can give me the look they can.

My big tip – and this is something I have always done – is to invest in multi-use products. Makeup is expensive so in order to get the best for your buck, you should look for products that are multi-use. That’s the reason I created my own range. There weren’t enough multi-use products out there so I set about creating my own.

Take for instance my contour palette. It has concealer, foundation, bronzer, setting powder and highlighter all in the one palette. The bronzer can even be used as eyeshadow. My new highlighter palette likewise has blusher, bronzer, highlighter and eyeshadows. Even my lashes are reusable. When you get multi-uses from a product, you save yourself a fortune in the long haul.

My fave is Kerastase shampoo and conditioner. I absolutely love this range because they have a huge selection for loads of hair types.

I also recently started using Joico. Jane in Red Velvet Hair Salon who does my hair recommended the gold hair shampoo and conditioner to me and it’s amazing. I’m a big fan. The gold one is for damaged hair. I had ombre in my hair during the summer and it’s weak at the moment so I’m trying to get it back in good nick for the wedding. So far, I am loving the Joico shampoo and conditioner.

The root lift spray from TRESemme is really good for when I want extra lift in my hair. Kevin Murphy Powder Puff is great for injecting volume into the hair. I discovered it when I cut my hair and needed something to give it extra lift and body. A good backcombing brush is another hair essential of mine. I also couldn’t be without my Gold Fever hair extensions.

My typical hairstyle is a ponytail. During the day when I’m working, I have to have my hair out of my face. I always keep a hair bobbin in my handbag.

I’m not actively in the gym right now but I’m hoping to start in the new year. I do walk my dogs every day though for about half and hour each time – at least six times a week.

I can’t live without a multi-vitamin. I’m so busy so I always feel as though this helps keep my system healthy. The supplement I’m taking at the moment is actually one I picked up in Lidl! I find the capsules too heavy on my tummy so I take the soluble supplements in water – one multi vitamin and one vitamin c.
