First Thoughts: January Glossybox

by ,

Nothing warms the cockles of your heart in January like the sound of a beauty subscription box landing on your doorstep. And so began this week with the arrival of the latest Glossybox.

The theme this month is, of course, healthy resolutions and inside features five natural or organic products. As chosen by Instagram’s irreverent, non-nutrionist Deliciously Stella, the ‘edible edition’ features brands I’ve never tried so I was quite pleased.

However, I was more excited about the pamphlet inside that promised a limited edition ‘Creme de la Mer’ Glossybox in February. Now that’s a bunch of products I can get on board with!

Anyway, back to January. Here’s what’s inside and my first thoughts.

Nip & Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser, €23
Moisturiser is a must in January and this Nip & Fab one will do the trick nicely. Formulated with superfoods kale, watercress, almond oil and aloe vera and shea butter, it’s a decent offering.

TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Single Eyeshadow (Full palette €39)
I’m not really into TheBalm, although plenty of bloggers adore it. This is quite a cute dark brown, matte eyeshadow but is teeny, tiny. I’d imagine I will lose this immediately.

Unani Illuminate Milk Cleanser, €16
Based on natural oils, this is a lovely, lightly scented cleanser. If you’re into organic, this is a really nice one and does exactly what it says on the tin.

Vitamasques Manuka Honey Face Mask, €4.60
Korean sheet face masks aren’t going away anytime soon it would seem. This one boosts the healing manuka honey and is pretty delicious (please don’t eat!). It’s just a shame it’s a one-use sachet.

True Organic of Sweden, All You Need Is Me, €23
This handy balm promises to salve your dry skin and chapped lips needs. All the way from Sweden (ja!), it reminds me of an unscented Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour cream in texture and application. A decent multi-tasker.

Overall, the January Glossybox features some nice new organic brands and there’s about €70 worth of stuff in there (organic is not cheap!) but I personally can’t wait for Creme de la Mer February. Ooh la la!
