The Five Minute Face With Catrice

by ,

It’s no secret that I’m a bit partial to Catrice. And when I say partial, I mean unable to contain myself around the make-up stand on a routine trip to buy socks in Penneys (I mean who just leaves with the socks? C’mon!).

Generally I find the budget brand does really quality products at cheap-as-chips prices. And while I’m not always in love with everything Catrice does, the brand has really upped its game lately with better pigments and longer lasting formulas.

In today’s post, I wanted to talk about a few pieces from the Spring/Summer 2017 collection that caught my eye and whether or not they’re worth snapping up.

Catrice 24-Hour Made To Stay Foundation in shade 010 Nude Beige, €7.90
The new 24-Hour foundation promises to last, well, 24 hours – one would presume. And while this matte effect foundation does apply beautifully, it didn’t last on my oily T-zone. In fact, I had a visibly make-up free nose in work by lunchtime (cue beauty blogger panic!). Overall I found this particular Catrice foundation a letdown.

Catrice The Precious Copper Eyeshadows, €5.50
This little eyeshadow palette is probably my favourite from the new collection. The copper hues are super-flattering, with little to no fallout and great pigment.

These have a shimmer finish and after a winter of mattes (hello Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics!), it was a nice change to wear a little sparkle.

Catrice Liquid Luminizer Strobing Pen, €4.50
I couldn’t really get my head around this one, I’m afraid. While it’s great for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes or on the cupid’s bow, I wouldn’t try it along my cheeks as it’s difficult to blend.

Catrice Contouring Blush, €4.50
Contour is such a buzzword these days but generally I just swirl my blusher brush over the whole thing and hope for the best, really. A decent enough blush, having said all that.

Catrice Glam & Doll Mascara, €4.50
I love this mascara. With a thin wand for precise lashes, it doesn’t flake and clump. You can’t ask for more than that!

Catrice Lip Cushion, €5.50
A cushion for your lips?! Yes please! This is a lovely lip gloss and reminds me of the pricey Clarins Lip Perfectors. Nice.

Catrice Instant Lipstick Mattifier, €4.95
Finally, the instant mattifier is the most intriguing (and possibly what will be the least used) product in the collection. Basically, dab it over your favourite lipstick for a matte effect. It does work but personally I’d rather just wear a matte lipstick and be done with it.
