My life may have shifted radically in the last few years (Marrying! Motherhood! House moves! Job changes!) but one thing has remained constant: my obsession with podcasts. No matter what mayhem the day brings, I will always fit a podcast or two in.
That’s the beauty of the spoken word – you can take it with you as you dash to the gym, on the commute to work or when you finally fall into bed at night.
I’m not a TV kinda gal so podcasts have helped me to stay connected, to learn something new every day, and are often a conversation starter around the office water-cooler.
With that said, here are five I’m currently loving:
01| Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations
Not to sound too dramatic but Oprah has changed my life! I’ve learned so much – and continue to learn – from her through her inspiring interviews with thought-leaders, authors and health and wellness experts.
Perfect for: A day when you could use a little spiritual inspiration.
Start with: Eckhart Tolle’s 10-part series on his book, A New Earth.
02| Table Manners
Singer Jessie Ware hosts this charming podcast with her mum Lennie in which they invite a celeb around to their house for dinner and have cosy chats about life, love and, of course, food.
Perfect for: When you’re hungry for some great conversation.
Start with: Love Actually’s writer and director Richard Curtis.
03| Dolly Alderton’s Love Stories
Author and love guru Dolly Alderton chats to celebrity guests about relationships, heartbreak, love and loss.
Perfect for: When you need a little hope and romance in your life.
Start with: The hilarious and often poignant chat with Irish author Marian Keyes.
04| New York Times’ The Daily
Hosted by Times political journalist Michael Barbaro, The Daily is based on the Times’ reporting of the day.
Perfect for: When you need to understand what Donald Trump has done now.
Start with: An Impeachment Inquiry Begins.
05| My Dad Wrote A Porno
A hilarious podcast in which actor Jamie Morton reads out chapters from the erotic books his 60 year-old dad has written and dissects the content with his best pals James Cooper and Alice Levine.
Perfect for: When you need a proper laugh-out-loud listen.
Start with: The first episode – The Job Interview.
Happy listening, everyone!
