Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick

by ,

I need another red lippy like Kim Kardashian needs to take another selfie. And yet here I am pouting away, wearing a slick of the divine Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Hot Pepper.

Bourjois’ most recent lippy is another nod to Yves Saint Laurent’s Glossy Stains but at half the price. These matte, long-wearing lipstick-gloss hybrids promise 24-hour colour (Eh? Me neither…) in a non-drying formula.

Hot Pepper is a bright, almost orange, red. I wore this for hours, through lunch and meetings, without a lip liner and it didn’t feather or bleed. I was seriously impressed with the lipstick’s bright, intensely pigmented formula with its gorgeous matte finish.

If you do have dry lips, however, I would recommend prepping beforehand (buffing lips with a dry toothbrush to remove dry skin and applying a lip balm). One minor criticism is the metallic scent but that fades almost immediately after application. Overall, a gorgeous little budget lipstick. And with all this pouting, I could give Mrs Kanye a run for her money.
